FINAL REFLECTIONS

Hello everybody!!!

This adventure with ICT is coming to an end. It has been a useful subject to be more competent with ICT.

At the beginning I was a little scared because I wasn´t very good with technologies. However, a part from different difficulties I could have during this term, I have to say that I have impove. In addition, I am going to continue using ICT in order to teach my future students.

As you are going to see in my final video, in each module we were expected to create different artifacts. My favourite has been the module 3 because we had to works in groups. I had the pleasure to work with Victor, Lola, Elena and Ana Martín.

Regarding the tools I have used during this adventure, I would like to highlight Powtoon because it has been my main tool to create many of the artifacts. As I have told you in other posts it has many animations, props, characters, backgrounds, shapes, graphs and also you are able to insert images, videos and sounds. The unique critique that I have is that you only have 20 seconds per slide to record.

Thank you to my teacher for showing me this world and to my classmates for forming part of this adventure.

See you soon!!! =)

OUR CHOCOTALK

Hello readers!

On Thursday the 7th of April, our master´s class performed a ChocoTalk in Youtube about "how CLIL can contribute to having happier bilingual learners"

It was the first time that I participated in a ChocoTalk and I have to congratulate my classmates because everything worked perfectly.
In this ChocoTalk each person in the group played a role. In my case I was curator, and at the end of the ChocoTalk I had to summerize what had happened before, during the Chocotalk and after. Ana had the same role than me.
Elena and Victor were the managers on twitter. They role were to dissemintate the Chocotalk through this app in order to promote it.
Lola and Inma were the speakers during the chocotalk.

As I said before, Ana and me wrote a summery of the Chocotalk with Storify. Here you are what happened! Enjoy it!

It was enjoyable but a little stressful sometimes. We want to do a great job.

World BooK Day celebration

Hello readers,

The 23rd of April was the Word Book Day. Due to this day we have create an aura. Maybe you don´t know what it is, but don´t worry, I am going to try to explain you carefully.

Aurasma is a difficult app to describe without see how it works. It is an augmented reality system, that use the camera of your phone to identify objects that are in front, and in real time, overlay over  them any type of animation we choose to react with this object.

In my case, first I created a poster with my favourite books with piktochart and then I created a video telling how I am as a reader in powtoon. Then I upload both things in aurasma, so when I put my aurasma app over my poster in the computer, my video appear automatically.

It is a dinamic and interactive way to tell things about me as a reader. We share our work in Pinterest in Wall of books.

How to create a rubic!

Hello people!!

Today I am going to write about how to create a rubric.

From my point of view this challenge has been very useful for us as a teacher. From my experience as student, it has been the first time that I elaborate a rubric.

Before creating my rubric I consulted with some of my peers and finally I decided to use Quick Rubric. As its name says it is a quick and easy tool to elaborate a rubric. Once you logging in the tool you can use it. It offers you as many columns or rows you need. When you shave your work it inmediatly send the link to your e-mail.

To elaborate a rubric, first you must think about what you want to evaluate. The aspects you want to assess have to be written on the left, in the first column. Then you should think about which will be the point you will give depends of how the task has been made. In my case has been excellent 3 points, good 2 points, fair 1 point and poor 0 points. Finally you complete the table telling the student what is going to be your criterion in order to give feedback.

Quic Rubric is an useful tool to create our rubrics and give feedback to our students in order to improve their tasks.

Here it is the rubric that I have made for the e-project: https://www.quickrubric.com/r#/qr/nataliamench/e-project

Thank you readers :)

TUTORIAL

Hello people!

For this mission we were asked to record a tutorial in order to teach our children how to use an online tool. In this case, we chose to teach them how to use Piktochart since it was the tool they were required to use in their final challenge.

To create our tutorial we have used "Screencast-O-Matic" which is an online tool that allows to create videos with screen shoots with high quality of image and sound. This tool alse gives you the possibility to share your final product in YouTube or download it.

There are two versions, we used the free one, which we consider that is very complete. You can select the part of the screen you want to appear in your video and record it for 15 minutes. Moreover, you can use the webcam so your image will appear in a little slide in the corner.

From our personal point of view, we can use this tool in our classes for many purposes. For instance, we could ask our children to create a Storyjumper and then record the screen while turning the pages telling the story (they can imitate the characters´voices). In this way, they would be able to practice their speaking skills at the same time they practice their ICT skills, and all of this in a meaningful and engaging way.

In addition, to edit the video we used the e-tool IMovie. This app is intuitive and fast to work with. It allows you to introcduce any music that you like most.

We appreciate this activity, as it made us reflect on the need of creating tutorial in our classes. Even though working in groups make things easier, there are some tools that are difficult to manage. From our own experience, we have found difficulties in using some online tools. This why we consider vital to scaffold our students by doing tutorials of ict tools.

Here you are link to our turorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6g3bQYyKX30&app=desktop

Thank you for your attention and enjoyed it!

VIDEO CHALLENGE

Hello readers!

In this post I am going to tell you about my last challenge.

We have created our video challenge using imovie. As template we have used the comic we previously made with storyboard, then we have played and recorded it. Here you are the link to check it out in case you didn´t! https://www.storyboardthat.com/storyboards/elena_ictclil/the-olympic-games

Regarding the edition of our video we have used imove in an ipad. We have enjoyed this app particularly because the clear and neat production that it makes. It is very intuitive and fast to handle, allowing the use of any music you wish, adding a mixture of videos and pictures, cropping images/videos, labelling pictures, etc. The only "bad thing", if saying any, wouldbe that it did not allow us to make the opening title any bigger.
In our video we have schemed the directions and steps that our students have to follow in order to achieve one of the activities of our CLIL eporject. The students final outcome is to represent one European country candidature to the Olympic Games.

Here you can watch our videoclip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QNB7WITDtY

Providing the necessary scaffold to our students it is mandatory for us as teachers, but doing this by using digital artifacts it is a step forward into attracting their attention in what you want them to do. On top of that, even if we sometimes do not notice, children do realize the effort a teacher makes to create new and motivating materials and helping them to have a good time. Having said this, we believe we will make a good use of this technique in our future classrooms.

I hope you enjoy our artifact!

INPHOGRAPHIC

Dear readers,

For this mission we have been asked to work in teams previously allocated to. Our team is composed by Victor Rodríguez, Ana Martín, Natalia Menchón, Inma, Elena and Lola. The name of our common e-project is: "Travelling around Europe" and within it we decided to create a final activity for our students to learn about the physical and political features, as well as about some of the most distinguishing representations of some European countries. Therefore, our ain in this task is to create an infographic explaining how to carry out this final activity.

An infoedugraphic is a visual presentation of data. To carry out and design out own one, we chose Piktochart, as some of us had prevviously evaluated an e-project in which the author had used this tool and we liked how the final result looks.

Piktochart is a perfect tool to create attractive infographics, presentations or reports for our lessons. Among its features we can highlight the templates, bachgrounds, graphics and different types of letter. When you finish your design, you can also download it in different formats or share it. We cannot think of any disadvantage since we consider that it worked fantastic and allowed us to accomplish the task without any problem.

We believe we can use the Infographic for many purposes in our classrooms. For instance, we can use it to support learners with special needs, as it allows the teacher to present information in a more visual way, or to clarify those concepts thar are usually more difficult to understand. Furhemore, due to its ease of use, students can use it too. For example, they could use it to summarize their learning. In this way, apart from reviewing one subject content they would also have the possibility to practice their ICT skills.

Here you are the link to our infographic: https://magic.piktochart.com/output/12544036-untitled-infographic

We hope you like it and enjoy it!
